LED downlights questions
What size downlight do I need?
Measure the hole in the ceiling, not the old fitting's face. 70 and 90 millimetre cut-outs are the common Australian sizes and most downlights here are adjustable across that range.
How many downlights per room?
Count by lumens: about 150 to 200 lumens per square metre for a living room, 300 for a kitchen. With 800-lumen downlights a 4 by 4 metre living room needs four, on a dimmer. The guide on this site works it through.
